I am named after Carly Simon and originally from Indiana. As a kid, I had crazy curly hair and loved The Wizard of Oz, cottage cheese, and playing bingo with my grandma and grandpa.
Currently, I live with my brother Mark Blane (filmmaker) in Brooklyn. I have a BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University. I’m a member of AEA!
A major highlight of my NYC acting career was playing Jill in a sweet, endearing ten-minute musical JACK + JILL, by Sarah Hammond (String w/ Adam Gwon) and Emily Goldman, which won the Sam French OOB Short Play Festival! Since then, I've delved into the independent film world. I'm Associate Producer as well as a supporting role in the feature film CUBBY, shot on 16mm film. I starred in a short film musical EVERYTHING’S FINE: A PANIC ATTACK IN D MAJOR featuring Broadway's Derek Klena (Anastasia), and I made my own short film, JONI & THE BANKER WITH NICE EYES.
Most recently, I wrote, directed, produced, and starred in a cabaret called BUGGED: CARLY BLANE AT LARGE that premiered at the Dixon Place Lounge. It featured a live band including cajon, sax, and bass with wacky humor, projections, video, and live cloning. It was also a sold out performance! Stay tuned for more updates on future performances for my cabaret about the government chasing me.
I enjoy playing piano, doing musical improv, and clowning around (figuratively and theatrical clowning too). My singing influences are Regina Spektor, Sara Bareilles, Ella Fitzgerald, Fiona Apple, Carole King, and Celine Dion. My acting influences are Michelle Williams, Nicole Kidman, Lisa Kudrow, Elizabeth Banks, Brit Marling, and Ellie Kemper.
I love to collaborate with others and would be so happy to meet you if you have a creative endeavor you'd like to work on with me. I'm an extremely easygoing, silly, and hardworking person to be around. I’m passionate and ambitious, and I want to continue making exciting and innovative work!
peas and love,
