Hey there, I’m Carly Blane. I’m an actor-singer-musician-filmmaker, living in Brooklyn, New York.
I'm originally from Indiana and moved out to the east coast to get a BFA in Acting/Musical Theatre at Syracuse University. I live with my brother Mark Blane who is also a filmmaker!
I am a theatre-trained actress who is transitioning into independent film. I'm most interested in directing short films. Recently, I wrote, directed, produced, and starred in a short dark comedy, JONI AND THE BANKER WITH NICE EYES. It will be making its world premiere in Ontario, Canada at CINEMUSKOKA FESTIVAL August 30th-September 2nd, 2018.
I also starred in an original short film MUSICAL comedy, EVERYTHING'S FINE: A PANIC ATTACK IN D MAJOR, featuring Derek Klena (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) as Hot Xanax Guy. It premiered at the Columbia University Film Festival on May 12th, 2018 at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center. Updates coming soon regarding future screenings!
On stage and screen, I'm a strong comedic actress with a genuine and endearing vulnerability. I'm a combination of Ellie Kemper, Zoe Kazan, and Alison Brie. In regards to my music skills, I love to play and sing with a folky pop influence a la Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, Norah Jones, and Rachel Price.
I love to collaborate with others and would be so happy to meet you if you have a passionate endeavor you'd like to work on with me. I'm an extremely easygoing, silly, and hardworking person to be around. All I can do in this business is make work that is exciting and innovative to me and hopefully others!
